In his 2025 upcoming book A Life of Meaning and Joy: In Search of Social Identity Man, dr. Gershom describes the characteristics of Social Identity Man based on Rabbi Soloveitchik’s typology of human nature, the insights of Hillel in one of his sayings in Pirkei Avot and a theory of personality in modern psychiatry. Social Identity Man is contrasted with the modern Western man as Selfie and socially detached and is presented in such a way to enable the reader to mirror his own life and adjust it where necessary.
The goal of all of our lives is a balanced and harmonious life between the “I” and “We”, between a strong identity and meaningful solid social relationships. Ideally, Social Identity Man is a person of joy.
